Man forgets pounds of gold in Swiss train

15-6-2020: Swiss authorities are looking for a man who left several pounds of gold on a train in 2019. It is about 3.5 kilos of gold with a value of about 170,000 euros.

In October 2019, the man traveled with railway company SBB from Sankt Gallen in the northeast to Lucerne in the center of the country. The police launched a search for the owner, but he was not found.

Following the startling discovery, the Lucerne Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation, but the owner could not be traced. That is why the authorities are now trying with an appeal in the media.

The rightful owner has five years to report to the authorities. After that, the gold becomes the property of the Swiss state.

Book back at library after almost 40 years, 5 euro fine!

09-06-2020: A library in Groesbeek in the Netherlands has received back a book that should have been handed in almost 40 years ago. The book "Terug naar Oegeest (Jan Wolkers) should have been back on March 5 1981, but it took 39 years, 13 weeks and 5 days for someone to bring it. "As a library employee, you sometimes don't believe your own eyes," writes the library on Twitter, along with an image of the stamp card that came with the book.
"It must have been hard for the reader to let go."

The man who brought the book back said it was thirty years late. "I thought it was a joke," says Antonie van Bergen of the library in Groesbeek.

Book submitted to the library after more than 39 years. The library works with a maximum amount of 5 euros. "If there were no maximum amount, the fine would have risen to EUR 1530.75," says the library. But he doesn't have to pay anything.

The unknown man who handed in the book said that after decades he had accidentally found it in the attic when he was cleaning up. The library would like to get in touch with him. According to Van Bergen, this is a tall man of around fifty years old.

"We hope he reports and can tell the story behind the book."

Hidden treasure found in Rocky Mountains

08-06-2020: A treasure hunter has found over a million in jewelry, gold nuggets, coins and other valuables in the American Rocky Mountains. That says the man who hid the treasure ten years ago, the eccentric millionaire Forrest Fenn, on his website and to American media.

In his own words, 89-year-old Fenn hid a valuable treasure in the mountains north of the town of Santa Fe in New Mexio in 2010. He then published a poem with indications of the exact location. Over the years, thousands of people have searched for the treasure, some of the treasure hunters lost their lives.

Fenn has always said that he wanted to encourage people with his treasure to go on an adventure in nature. According to him, the treasure was found "under the starry sky" in the Rocky Mountains, right where he had hidden the valuables ten years ago.

Fenn does not want to reveal the name of the lucky treasure hunter, but that it concerns someone from the eastern United States. The man discovered the treasure a few days ago and sent Fenn a photo of it, the millionaire told Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper
